Commercial Yachts Registration

Part I of the register is available for registration of commercial yachts.
It records title and offers the facility to register a mortgage against a vessel.

Who is eligible to register a vessel in the Isle of Man?

We can accept individuals, bodies corporate and limited partnerships as owners of Manx ships, subject to the following criteria:

We accept individuals who are:

  • British Citizens
  • British Overseas Territory Citizens
  • British Subjects
  • British Nationals (Overseas)
  • A citizen of any of the countries listed in Schedule 1

Bodies Corporate incorporated in any of the following countries and having their principal place of business in any of the following countries:

  • The Isle of Man
  • The United Kingdom
  • The Channel Islands
  • Any of the countries listed in Schedule 1

To be eligible to own a Manx ship, a Limited partnership must satisfy ALL of the following criteria:

1) have their principal place of business in:

  • The Isle of Man
  • The United Kingdom
  • The Channel Islands, or
  • Any of the countries listed in Schedule 1, AND

2) be registered in any of the countries listed in Table 1; AND

3) have a general partner which is:

  • i) an individual resident in any of the countries listed in Table 1; OR
  • ii) a body corporate incorporated and which has its principal place of business in any of the countries listed Table 1

  2. Appointment of Authorised Officer
  3. Declaration of Ownership (Body Corporate)
  4. Appointment of Representative Person**
  5. Bill of Sale if required*
  6. Builders’ Certificate if new build*
  7. Certificate of Incorporation
  8. Certificate of Survey
  9. Tonnage Certificate
  10. Deletion Certificate
  11. Bunker Oil Blue Card (if yacht over 1000 GT)
  12. Nairobi Wreck Removal Certificate (if vessel over 300 GT)

*These documents must be notarised if executed outside the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or British Dependencies

**Vessels over 24m in length if owned by a non-Isle of Man entity require the appointment of a local representative person.

  5. Builders’ Certificate if new build*
  6. Copy of Passport
  7. Certificate of Survey***
  8. Tonnage Certificate
  9. Deletion Certificate (if previously registered)
  10. Bunker Oil Blue Card (if yacht over 1000 GT)
